Paradise of the Blind- Pretext

The Paradise of the Blind, Is a book with strong political views. The writer now in exile for her views opposing the current Vietnamese political system, has written a passionate novel about her own country and the atrocities which have occurred in Vietnam. The Paradise of the Blind was the first novel to be translated and published in English in the United States. The Book was published in 1988, a year before the fall of the soviet union and a decade after the end of the Vietnam war. In her own country her book was banned and faced many barriers for the publishing of her book. At one point she was even thrown into prison. My expectation of this book is that it will be very interesting. Not only because of the political views portrayed within the book but, also because of the fact that I know very little about Vietnamese culture. This book is promising in those aspects.
